Redoing Old Frames and Little Chairs for Big People to Enjoy

My Christmas present from the kids.

My school schedule let’s me leave Thursdays and Fridays at 11:30. It basically gives me a 4 day weekend to do anything I want. Well, yesterday I had nothing to do, nothing scheduled and nothing I wanted to do. As went up the stairs past the trash can and the junk piled on the stairs I realized how junky ( and really dangerous) it was. So I got rid of all that stuff, swept and then thought, what a  going put there. It looked so bare. I had moved 4 stand up frames from the ’40s and my Christmas present from the kids, an antique small chair spool and thimble holder. I just love it. The kids did great this year!!! I decided to clean up, restore, and fix them. I got out my basket of stains and refinishing, clear spray, sandpaper and steel wool and went to town, I completely redid the chair and even cut new fabric for the pincushion seat. Then, I started on the frames and then got an antique rocker made from spools and redid it.  I a real cute rocking chair that was really and ugly pinky-gray and spray painted it red. Now everything is cleaned up and they

all have new homes. Tom Russell posted that he collects small chairs and so does our good friend, Pat Eaton. I didn’t realize I had so many until I went and looked in the sunroom, too. Don’t you just love it when you have something big accomplished in a short period of time!! Now the stairs are cleaned and decorated. Now what to do next???

OK, now you’ve done it!!!!! I just have to comment. You KNOW I love kid chairs and very small chairs….these look just GREAT!!! At some point, I’ll post some of mine…but not now. Wouldn’t want you to think we are ‘competing.’ No kidding, though, these look great. And, one more thing…those frames. They look marvelous with embroidery in them……or a vintage photo with an embroidered ‘mat’…..could be one of my favorite things on the planet. JIm…one thing I really like about you is when you make up your mind to so something….you just go right on ahead til you finish the job. And sometimes it’s all in one day! I’m feeling so unproductive looking at your posts!!! Loveya, Big Guy…..hugs, pat

    Dear Miss Unproductive,
For someone who thinks they are unproductive you sure get a lot done with all the normal stuff you have to do. So, take it from someone who has no responsibilities except to show up for work, you get a heck of a lot done!!!!!!!!!! I guess the Christmas present chair and Tom’s chair, and straightening up made me clean up the chairs and the frames that were on the stairs that never made it to the storage room. You know how my mind works, well, doesn’t work sometimes. LOL!
    Love you!!! JIM

  3. Great looking chairs and frames, love them all. You had a productive day, I have a few on occasion, it always feels good to get after things and get it done. And the chairs look perfect stair stepping up those steps.
