The Scrap Rose Quilt with Tread Painting and Quilting Designs

ThunbLast summer when Tom was here when he was cleaning up he sorted his scraps from a project he was working on. He was going to throw away scraps that he said he wasn’t going to keep. I got them and decided to use the throwaway scraps in a rose quilt. I kept his cut scraps in the shapes they were and designed roses.  I fused them and  did thread painting all over each rose, stem, and leaf. I caught the edge with a stitch and left some of the fibers/threads loose toRose 1 give it a rough edge. When the Hot Springs area Quilt Show was announced the Morrilton Sit and Sew decided to go and enter a quilt. I finished this one up last week. The quilting is free motuion with leaves and vines and stems with a stylized sun and meandering sky. I love the way this one turned out. Geometric and interesting. The name is “Rustling Roses.” I haven’t heard from you in a while. I hope, Tom, you are doing okay.rose 2rose 5rose quilted

  3. LOVE!!! I’m a fool for roses and once again, the quilting sets these roses off perfectly. I swear I don’t know when, or if, you sleep! I know Tom will appreciate your use of his tiny little scraps and also of your kind thoughts today. I send my best to him too….wishing him peace and joy in whatever he undertakes. Hugs, Mr. G. pat
