DON’T LOOK BRIAN!!! The Crazy Quilt Challenge.

Mini Retreat Mt. eagle August 2013 065My friend, Brian Haggard, to whom I have never met, is a quilter and quilt book author amongst other fascinating things. We got together on the internet after my friend Pat wrote him and ordered his first book. He does crazy quilts with antique photos on fabric. Well, long story short I found an old photo of a group of men with their musical instruments and sent it to him. Well, he sent me a copy of the photo on fabric. We decided we would make a quilt using the photo and when he comes to the Arkansas Quilters retreat at Ferndale (Quilt Arkansas) we will show them. apilquesWe talked about exchanging them, but I haven’t decided if I am going to yet. I’ve put a lot of time and great junk on my quilt. But, if I could borrow it back for quilt show I would. I started it at our Mt. Eagle mini retreat. I made the first block 12″ X 12″ and then I had to figure out what else to do I decided make a square 9 patch quilt ane to use some printed Victorian drawings on off white in each block. I wanted to do some appliqued items so I made a pipe, shaving mug and shaving, brush, trumpet, vest, hat, pocket watch, and a plaid sock. After all of the were made I built the crazy quilt blocks around those items. I only took one box of browns and a couple of brown florals. This is what I have done so far:cq1cq 2
