I Participated in a Dessert Contest (Recipes Included)

September 2014 Questers 075I participated in the CAQ Retreat dessert contest. I made a pecan apple cinnamon pie and Oreo Brownie. I had to make them the night before we left for the Mt. Eagle retreat. The pecan apple cinnamon pie  is so easy. Pecan Cinnamon Apple Pie: Two Pillsbury frozen crusts,  2 cans of Apple Pie Filling, Pecans,  Cinnamon,  Real butter.  Use glass of pyrex round pie pan,  Let pie crust thaw a little,  Put on in pan,  Let it settle to shape,  Cut off outside thickPie brownie crust,   Sprinkle cinnamon, sugar, and pieces of butter on pie crust bottom. Then pour in both cans of filling.  Take other pie shell and lay flat on cutting board
(Might need a touch of flour sprinkled over cutting board.)  Cut of thick crust.  Thin cut in strips. Lattice the pie.  The left over crust use small cookie cutter and make leaves or ginger bread men shapes. Darling!!!  Put them on top and add whole pecans scattered around.  Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon. And put little pieces of butter on top.
Bake at 350 degrees until bubbles up and crust is a slight golden brown. Now for theSeptember 2014 Questers 075 Double Stuffed Oreos Brownies: Package of Double stuff Oreos, Package on plain M&M’s, 2 packages of Brownie mix with the liquid chocolate, Big 9 X 12 (?) pan Follow instructions with brownie mixes. dump in M&M’s, stir. Put 1/2 liquid mixture in botton of pan. Lay Oreos as close as you can. (Now some people put a small spoonful of peanut butter on the cookies.) Then pour the rest of the liquid into the pan. I’m going to have to give this recipe a try ! There’s 12 pecan trees on our farm, and the nuts will soon be dropping…. I can imagine the aroma of the pie mixed with the smell of coffee. 🙂

  2. If you need someone to come help pick up those nuts, I’m your gal. That is if I may keep enough for a pie!
