Chinese Auction at the Central Arkansas Quilter’s Guild

Nov. first 2014 279The Chinese Auction at the Central Arkansas Quilters Guild in Conway is a fundraiser for the guild. The money made is used for programs and keeping the guild afloat. I left my camera at home, so I didn’t get pictures of the fun activity. We bring any old thing we want to get rid of and we put it all out on tables. We put a cup in front of or on top of each item.  We buy chances (double numbered tickets), twelve for $5.00. Then we place as many tickets in the cups for what we might want to get. The we shake up the cups and draw one ticket. The item with the ticket that matches your number goes home with you to put with your junk. LOL! I got 2 bags of cross stitch stuff for my niece, Ashley, who just started cross stitching. I already sent her a Random Box of Kindness this week, so now I have her Christmas.  I got a stack of colored napkins,  two old BEAUTIFUL cotton embroidered pillow cases, embroidered hand towels, country primitive pillow cases with pieced blocks, two new candles,  (I’ll use as Christmas presents) three roll napkins you put in bread baskets, another round roll server, a figurine for Cindy’s flea market booth, an old orange small table ironing board, wooden purse handles, 3 embroidery hoops, a pair of scissors, a couple of books, 2 card table cloths, and some more smaller appliqued linens and things. It was fun! I got rid of junk and brought more junk home!
