Scrap Quilt #117 – Another Quilt Top from Donated Blocks

Paige sit and sew Beverly's blocks 003The quilt top I did the last week from the donated blocks was the same sack I got these blocks and unfinished blocks. Theses were blues and greens, and purple batik. I don’t buy batiks, because they are expensive and for me the patterns don’t fit with my other stash. I put the blocks that were not finished together when I was at the CAQ sit and sew on lastBeverly's blocks 053 Saturday. When I finished the first top I got these blocks out and started trying to come up with an idea of how I was going to put them together. One block couldn’t be finished because I needed two off white batik triangles. I decided to make a pillow out of the extra block when I finish it. I realized the nine blocks was going to make a small quilt, so I got some fabric and made four pin wheels. I put everything on point then started doing theBeverly's blocks 035 sashing out of lime and purple. I never have a pattern when I make up this stuff. It is just a challenge to see if I can do something with  someone else’s scraps and leftovers. I had some small triangles that Leah gave me so I figured out a pattern to use as the side set-in triangle blocks. I got the top finished except for the four corners and the took awhile to figure out. Then I sewed the two borders on. I would have never made a quilt from these colors, and now I am glad I put these together. Thanks, Beverly, if it was you that gave me these.Beverly's blocks 052Beverly's blocks 030 Beverly's blocks 034 Beverly's blocks 036 Beverly's blocks 044 Beverly's blocks 051 Beverly's blocks 049 Beverly's blocks 046 Beverly's blocks 045
